Black Journalism: Standing on the shoulders of Malcolm X and Gil Noble
Im excited to be standing on the shoulders of Malcolm X and Gil Noble this May 19th in a tribute that has it’s focus on black journalism. This year I’m honored to be spending Malcolm X’s earthday speaking at the historic Schomburg Center in Harlem. The panel I will be speaking on is themed “Black Journalists in the tradition of Malcolm X and is a tribute to the late black journalist Gil Noble. I’ll be Telling it Like It Is next to a panel of brilliant people who I admire and I’m thrilled to be invited to participate in this event sponsored by the Malcolm X Museum.

Including myself, ‘remembering Gil Noble’ presentations will be given by Nayaba Arinde, Gary Byrd, Les Payne and Peter Bailey leading into panel and audience dialogue.
Im looking forward to my presentation, Ive been given a real treat poem from Abiodun of The Last Poets who was a friend of Gil Noble. When I told him about the event, he gave me this gem dedicated to Brother Gil Noble and I will be reading it on Saturday. But I have come up with a creative way of presenting Abiodun’s poem, so come see and find out.
